Theatre and book reviews by Janice Dempsey
No, it's not a typo for wordless! There's a site called wordle.net that produces these lovely pictorial analyses of text - this is my wordle for the 30 poems I wrote in April this year. I've done wordles for my poems in June and September too, and I'm glad to say they are all different. The word "like" appears large in all of them, though - too many similes, perhaps?

I've spent the last few days setting up an Etsy online shop for my smallest pictures, where they might be seen by potential buyers before Christmas comes in. It's surprising how much time it's taken. Photographing my little darlings (for I feel quite protective about these portraits of the flotsam and jetsam of my life and my family's past, too) from every angle, repainting parts of them where they don't photograph perfectly, and filling in all those little boxes that such websites offer, it all takes time away from actually doing the work of painting. And decisions - do I categorise them as "original paintings", "oils" or even "illustrations"? What is their "style?" What are "Boho" and "Cottage Chic", anyway? Why isn't "surreal" an option? Is that synonymous with "fantasy" now? Oh well, I can only launch them and hope someone out there might find them in the morass of paintings that wash about in the Internet ether and like them enough to take one or two off my hands in exchange for a £40 Paypal top-up. In case you find this blog, here's a link to my shop. It's called Small and Perfect! |
